FILLER
PRE/POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Park providers are excellent injectors and will do everything possible to ensure you achieve your desired filler results! Here are a few things you can do to improve your results and reduce possible adverse effects.

pre-care

AVOIDING COMPLICATIONS

  • Avoid alcohol, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc), aspirin, or other anti-inflammatory or blood thinning medications two days prior to your treatment. If any of these are prescribed by your doctor, check with them before discontinuing.

  • Avoid vitamin E, omega-3, ginseng, garlic, ginkgo, or St. John’s wort supplements for two days prior to or after your treatment.

  • Avoid exercise or sex six hours before treatment.

  • Come without makeup, or plan to remove your makeup when you arrive. If injecting the lower face, beards should be shaven or closely trimmed.

  • If you have a history of herpes or cold sores and are planning to get lip filler, contact your family doctor to discuss an anti-viral prescription prior to treatment.

POST-TREATMENT PLANNING

  • While most clients do not experience any significant visible effects, some may experience bruising and swelling that can last several days. Consider scheduling your treatment with this in mind.

  • You’ll be booked for a post-treatment assessment two weeks after your injection so we can monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to optimize your results.

  • You also must be able to access the clinic in person during those two weeks in the event of potentially serious complications — if you plan to travel between these appointments we will need to reschedule the injection.

Some people are not able to have filler. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking a tetracycline or aminoglycoside antibiotic (such as for acne or rosacea), let us know right away -- we may have to reschedule your treatment or consider an alternative.

POST-care

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

  • You may experience swelling, bruising, redness, discomfort, itching, and tenderness at your treatment sites. These are normal and usually improve in 2-3 days, sometimes longer for bruising.

  • Some people rarely get small red or swollen bumps at their treatment sites 2-3 days after their treatment, which should resolve on their own. If you experience these, please let your injector know at your post-treatment assessment. If you experience anything else, please contact us so we can assess how we can help.

WHEN TO CONTACT US
Very rarely, filler may have gotten into a blood vessel, which can damage the skin. This is called vascular occlusion and needs to be addressed quickly. Let us know right away via email if you notice:

    • a pale patch on your skin,

    • a new rash near the injection site, or

    • localized pain that is getting worse

SKIN CARE
For 48 hours following treatment:

    • Keep the skin clean to avoid infection (try to avoid makeup!)

    • Avoid topical retinols

    • Skip exfoliants and harsh scrubs

LIFESTYLE
For 48 hours following treatment, avoid:

    • Prolonged exposure to heat (hot tubs, saunas, sunbathing)

    • Exercise, sex, sweating

For 72 hours following treatment:

    • Avoid alcohol, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc), aspirin, or other anti-inflammatory or blood thinning medications. If any of these are prescribed by your doctor, check with them before discontinuing.

    • Avoid vitamin E, omega-3, ginseng, garlic, ginkgo, or St. John’s wort supplements

YOUR POST-TREATMENT ASSESSMENT
You’ve been scheduled for your two week assessment. It’s our chance to check that everything is healing well, your results are shaping up the way we planned, and talk about any adjustments you might want. Please contact us if you don’t have this appointment in your calendar or if you need to reschedule. Good filler is a process and we’re here to help guide you through it!

EXTRA TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS

  • Hands off: Avoid touching or massaging your face. Your injector carefully placed your filler during your treatment; help keep it there by avoiding touching your face!

  • Sleep on your back for the next 3 nights if you can.

  • Stay hydrated: Filler binds to water–drinking lots of water helps optimize your results.

  • You may notice subtle fluctuations in volume over the next few weeks; this is normal and will stabilize faster if you stay well hydrated.

HOW TO CONTACT US
If you have questions you can email or text the clinic and we’ll get back to you within a couple of hours:

Fillers tend to last 9-12 months, and we recommend repeating your treatment once most of it has been reabsorbed, and dissolving your filler intermittently to prevent migration and puffiness.
