Belkyra®

is an injectable treatment that targets and eliminates fat cells under the chin.

Belkyra® (deoxycholic acid) is injected into the fat below the chin, also known as submental fat, over several treatments. The naturally occurring molecule - that aids the breakdown and absorption of dietary fats - destroys fat cells. The fat cells are then eliminated from the body through a natural metabolic mechanism.

Your Belkyra® Treatment—Step-By-Step

1. CONSULTATION

We’ll start by learning about your face, neck, and the changes you hope to see. We’ll decide if Belkyra® is the right treatment for you, and talk about a treatment plan. The number of treatments varies from person to person. We’ll answer all your questions and ensure you are confident with your plan. We can start with injections on the same day as your consultation if you’d like!

2. TREATMENT

The injections usually take about 15 to 20 minutes.

There will be an immediate mild itching feeling, followed by warmth and tenderness to the touch. Swelling usually starts immediately after the treatment, and we’ll walk you through steps to help with the discomfort during and after treatment.

3. SUBSEQUENT VISITS

Most patients require 2-4 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to achieve best results.

Once your treatment plan is completed and the desired result is achieved, no upkeep should be required.

 

  • A Belkyra treatment typically takes 15-20 minutes.

  • The most common side effects of Belkyra include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. These side effects are typically mild to moderate in severity and usually resolve on their own within a few days to a few weeks.

    Expect swelling in the days following Belkyra treatment. The swelling is caused by the active medication breaking down the fat cells, and some of the volume can be attributed to the solution itself.
