PCDC/BELKYRA™ Injections
PRE/POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Park providers are thoroughly trained on safe injection of Belkyra™/PCDC for fat reduction and will do everything possible to get you the best result! Here are a few things you can do to improve your results and reduce possible adverse effects.

pre-care

AVOIDING COMPLICATIONS

  • Avoid alcohol, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc.), aspirin, or other anti-inflammatory or blood-thinning medications two days before your treatment. If your doctor prescribes any of these, check with them before discontinuing.

  • Avoid vitamin E, omega-3, ginseng, garlic, ginkgo, or St. John’s wort supplements for two days before or after treatment.

  • Avoid exercise or sex six hours before your treatment. 

  • Come without makeup, or plan to remove your makeup when you arrive. Facial hair should be shaved one day before the treatment.

  • Plan to be upright for four hours after your treatment.

POST-TREATMENT PLANNING

  • Redness and swelling may occur immediately after your treatment. This usually improves significantly after a few days and can last up to two weeks. Schedule your treatment with this in mind!

  • You’ll be booked for a post-treatment assessment 4-6 weeks after the last treatment in your series so we can monitor your progress and discuss how to maximize and protect your results. 

Some people are not able to have Belkyra™/PCDC injections. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, immunocompromised, have trouble swallowing or have liver, kidney, or blood vessel diseases let us know right away -- we may have to reschedule your treatment or consider an alternative.

POST-care

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

  • You may experience swelling and discomfort at your treatment sites. This is very common and is less pronounced in future treatments. Tylenol is ok to take for discomfort.

WHEN TO CONTACT US

  • If you have significant swelling that isn’t improving within two weeks of your treatment, worsening discomfort, or any other concerns, please email us so we can assess and see how we can help.

SKIN CARE

  • Guard against infection by keeping the skin clean, especially in the first 48h. Avoid makeup for 24h.

  • Gently apply a clean, cold compress to the treatment area for five minutes, five times a day, for five to seven days after your treatment.

  • Remain upright for four hours, and other than a cold compress, do not rub or apply pressure to your treatment areas, including during sleep.

LIFESTYLE

  • Avoid alcohol, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc.), aspirin, or other anti-inflammatory or blood-thinning medications for 3-5 days after treatment. If your doctor prescribes any of these, check with them before discontinuing.

  • Avoid exercise, sex, or extreme heat (saunas, sunbathing, hot yoga, etc.) for 48 hours after treatment.

Belkyra™/PCDC requires at least two - often four to six - treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Once you’ve completed your last treatment, results are permanent and don’t need to be touched up!
